Michel de Notre Dame, the most controversial prophet in history, was born in December 1503 in France, in Provence. This agile, short man with a long bushy beard was a curious figure at the court of King Henry II. In his youth, choosing a profession, he decided to become a doctor, as his grandfather exerted much effort to the upbringing and the education of his grandson. Grandfathers were taught the basics of Michel astrology, alchemy, mathematics and languages. After receiving the bachelor’s degree and had the right to practice medicine, the future prophet interrupted his studies because of an epidemic of bubonic plague that swept the south of France in 1525. Michel bravely went to the challenges providing assistance to the victims of this incredibly contagious disease, including non-traditional methods. In 1529, enriched and expanded the practice of this theoretical knowledge, Nostradamus (the Latin way to the doctor called till nowadays) defended his doctoral dissertation. The next 15 years, a compassionate physician and a pioneer, working wherever threw his destiny, gained a reputation as a miracle worker. For salvation from the plague residents of Aix – the capital of Provence, earned a lifetime pension and settled in a small town salon.

Now, when Nostradamus was financially secure, he turned to study the mysticism. He turned his attic into an astronomical observatory, where, standing on a tripod, contemplating the star firmament, alleging that he reveals the secrets of the future ” the inner light and a voice.”
Nostradamus wrote in an obscure dialect, based on a contemporary French language using words and phrases from Italian, Greek, Spanish, Hebrew and Latin. Each of the predictions was a quatrain – four lines, although none of them have revealed the great ability of the author of poetry. The seer himself explained that his almost incomprehensible style served him for protection from the powerful, which is not always like the future. But his critics have assumed that this uncertainty has been a deliberate ploy of Nostradamus, leaving room for different interpretations. Nostradamus with the risk of incurring the wrath of the Roman Catholic Church had predicted the events of the 20 centuries of future history.
Was he really a prophet, or the legendary accuracy of his predictions is only a myth?
Astrology at that time was interested not only in kings, but also in the ordinary nobles and bourgeoisie. For the needs of their mass circulation were annually dozens of almanacs. In 1550, Nostradamus published the first anthology with monthly predictions and continued to produce them every year until his death. Loud glory and great wealth, they did not seem to have brought. The only such Yearbook (for 1559) was successful, where were quite a few banal predictions of famine, epidemics, floods, but nothing more concrete.
Nostradamus became famous overnight, thanks to the predictions relating to the King. One of them seemed to be understood, but clearly implausible and read that the king would soon become a “one-eyed man.” Other, as it should be predicted, was mysterious and open to interpretation: “The young lion will overcome the old one on the battlefield in a single duel, his eyes in a golden cage …”
On July 1, 1559, during the joust, which was attended by the king, by a strange coincidence the peak of his opponent broke the helmet of the King and hit him in the left eye. The peak caused injury to the King, the second in the throat, and tormented for ten days, Henry died. During this period he was and will forever remain the only one-eyed ruler of France. And then all in awe remembered the words of Nostradamus from the book appeared in 1555. Occupying a strong position with respect to the wizards and witches, the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church set out to burn at the stake of the predictor. The peasants, who thought that the prediction was actually a curse burned his picture. Only the intervention of the widowed Queen Catherine de Medici had saved him from punishment.
In the preface to his book, “Prophecy” (its first part is known as the “Centuries” ), Nostradamus writes that prophecy extends to the year 3797. In general, at 942 quatrains he gives only 12 absolute dates (from 1580 to 1999), and even half dozen of the relative (which can be calculated by a combination of the constellations in the sky or some other way). From the point of view of many commentators, “Centuries” of Nostradamus predictions abound in violent and violent events of our time, since Hitler came to power before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy and his younger brother Robert. There are many predictions of Nostradamus at our age, some of them are terrifying, some, on the contrary, rejoice. But for the most timid there is comfort – for many of the predictions did not materialize. For example, Nostradamus has promised that at the beginning of the XIX century, Napoleon takes over England and will be a long and undisturbed reign. In fact, as we know, Napoleon ended his life as a prisoner of the victorious British. The book of Nostradamus, is perhaps the only book besides the Bible, which for 400 years was published almost continuously.
However, according to many scientists, Nostradamus predicted exactly how he died: “Close to the bench and the bed you will find me dead.” One evening he announced that he would not survive the night. He suffered an attack of gout, and the next morning he was found dead, in the bedroom next to the desk …
I offer you do not know the interpretation of the quatrains of Nostradamus, which has long been haunting the Internet. Of course, this does not translate or interpret, and imagination on the same topic, written by someone very well read in science fiction.
