It is interesting to know that life expectancy for human beings is half the one of other mammals. Science has not found an exact explanation for the causes that stand behind this fact yet. However, it is obvious that people originating from developed countries live longer than they used to live a century ago. By then, life expectancy reached 49 years, while nowadays it reaches 84 years for women and 77 for men. The world record in terms of life expectancy is registered in Japan, where the life expectancy for women is 85.8 years.

It is obvious that society with the life environment that it offers, particularly comfort, hygiene, and medical advances, as well as social protection measures, has contributed decisively to extend life expectancy. On the other hand, research has emphasized the following factors that can determine different changes in a human’s body and thus shorten our life:
• Harmful practices. Research has shown that tobacco, coffee and alcohol are not the only common vices that people fall for. Refined foods such as sugar, oil, flour and some spices can be included in the same category.
• Stress. Able to think in a more complex manner, human beings are strongly affected by the imminence of danger, which animals can not be aware of: the evolution of diseases, the threats of nature, war, social conflicts.
• Frying, baking, and boiling your food. It is widely known that people who eat raw vegetable live longer.
• Continuous effort. Animals are not subject to work, only to the extent of searching their food. They do not build their houses and do not manufacture their clothes, they are not engaged in trades or crafts.

In conclusion, even if our life is short and time passes very quickly, we should learn to take advantage of every single moment of our life. It only depends on us how we live and how next generations will live in the future. Let’s fill our moments with happiness, good music and a great cup of flavored coffee!
